Pedro Martinez - Sosa victim of 'Racial bias'. "We are not dumb.. We're Dominicans"

Racial bias in the press has blown out of proportion the saga of Sammy Sosa and his corked bat, Pedro Martinez said yesterday in defense of his fellow Dominican. ``We may be Latin, a minority, but we are not dumb. We are not dumb, we see everything that happens,'' said an agitated Martinez during an extended venting session. Martinez said since X-rays of ``a hundred'' of Sosa's bats had turned up no further cork, he wanted to see a reverse smear campaign to repair Sosa's reputation.

pedro, sammy broke his bat on a groundout and cork went flying out of it. that is the whole story.

what does race have to do with it, you moron. he got caught cheating and is now paying the price. its all over the media because the guy is the darling of chicago and a prolific homerun hitter, not because he's latino.

Patrick Roy has been busted with cheater jerseys. Oversize Jerseys that would literally catch pucks because they would snag in them. Not sure how roy explained that.

Noone has said that has tained patrick roy's title as arguably the best goalie ever.

Artus Irbe on the sharks got a game misconduct and a double minor for an illegal OVERSIZE stick AND pads.

He was ejected from the game.

He claimed those were the same pads he was using in russia.

I just don't think anyone cares about those type of incidents.

From my experience die hard baseball fans are the type that watch E! and spend there evenings talking about celebrity gossip.

I like baseball and I can't stand 'E' and I never gossip about celebraties or read the Star or People magazines.

my experience has been exactly the opposite. the baseball fans i know are very intelligent, well-rounded people. the few hockey fans i know have lost some teeth and generally speaking are on the "slow side" when it comes to the things of the mind.

the reason roy didn't get the media coverage that sosa is getting is because no one cares about hockey.

I even played for a couple years.. Took over glendon rusch's position on this team(jr high) who i coincidentally played wiffle ball with in my backyard all summer 1 summer.

Got bored moved on to bigger things..

I will agree that baseball at least at the stadium as evolved in terms of class. Now the po' folk from the ghettos who walk on their 13" TV B&W can't afford to take their family so now the stadium is filled with starbucks drinkin microsoft workers who get mad at people who cheer!
